IMPACT Family Counseling
C. Williams to intervene and prevent youth from entering a life of crime.
MENTORING CHILDREN OF PRISONERS PROGRAM
IMPACT Family Counseling has provided professional counseling services to “at-risk” youth and their families in Birmingham, Alabama since 1991. IMPACT was a grass roots initiative founded in 1991 by John A. Williamson and Molton
The founders created IMPACT after insight they gained while visiting inmates in a nearby prison. They were inspired to help troubled youth by what they heard from the inmates, many who were parents. Those incarcerated parents said they were concerned because their children back home were following in their footsteps and getting into trouble with the law. This epiphany led Mr. Williamson and Mr. Williams to come up with a solution to help break the cycle.
The vision that created IMPACT Family Counseling and the services that have been provided since its inception makes IMPACT uniquely suited to administer a mentoring program for children of prisoners.
The IMPACT MCP program is a one-on-one community- based mentoring program, serving children and youth, ages 4-16. Children and youth are paired with caring adults that are committed to making a positive difference in a young person’s life.
