Cedric DeJuan Sparks, Sr.
Family
Cedric D. Sparks, Sr. was born in Birmingham, Alabama on September 2, 1975 to the late Cedric L. and Doris J. Sparks. Mr. Sparks has been married since August 21, 1999 to the former Pamela J. Flakes of Salem, Alabama. They have three children, Cedric Jr., DeJa (pronounced day-jah) Camille, and Chancellor David.
Education
Mr. Sparks is a 1993 graduate of West End High School, a 1998 graduate of the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, and a 2003 graduate of Miles Law School.
Career
In May of 1998, Mr. Sparks was appointed to the City of Birmingham-Mayor’s Office Division of Youth Services, where he served as Administrative Assistant to the Mayor. He was promoted in June of 1999 to the position of Operation’s Manager. In August of 2000 he was named the Director of Operations, and in July 2002 he was appointed Executive Director of the Division of Youth Services. Under his leadership, Birmingham has been named
as one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People in America by America’s Promise.
Additionally, Mr. Sparks also serves as the Program Facilitator for Project Corporate Leadership, a leadership program designed for high-potential middle managers, sponsored by the Birmingham Business Alliance.
